The Chinese government has handed over a cultural exchange center to the University of Juba, marking a significant step in the deepening cultural ties between China and South Sudan. The center, equipped with 40 desks and chairs, aims to promote Chinese culture, language, and arts among South Sudanese students.

Speaking at the handover ceremony in Juba, Chinese Ambassador MA Qiang highlighted the importance of the newly established “China Culture Center.” He emphasized the Chinese Embassy’s commitment to fostering stronger connections through cultural and educational initiatives.

“We will host cultural exchange activities to reinforce the bond between our two peoples. I look forward to your active involvement in fostering this relationship and making young people’s contributions,” said MA Qiang.

The ambassador also noted that the 13-year diplomatic ties between China and South Sudan have laid a strong foundation for collaboration in various fields.

University of Juba Vice Chancellor Prof. Robert Mayom Deng expressed gratitude for the donation, describing the launch of the China Culture Center as a significant milestone in the relationship between the university and China.

“This center will provide Chinese language education and facilitate cultural exchange activities. It’s an integrated facility with solar-powered lighting, an air conditioner, and an interactive flat-panel display,” Prof. Deng explained.

The donation also includes a solar-powered e-classroom designed to enhance the learning experience for students.

Deng stressed that the center’s establishment is vital for fostering cultural understanding between the two nations, equipping students with skills and knowledge to engage in cross-cultural interactions.

The China Culture Center is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening ties between China and South Sudan by nurturing mutual respect and appreciation through cultural and educational exchanges.
