Airtel Uganda and the Buganda Kingdom have reaffirmed their strategic partnership with K2 Telecom, a move aimed at enhancing telecommunications services and expanding digital inclusivity across Uganda. The renewed collaboration underscores both entities’ commitment to innovation and the delivery of tailored solutions that address the communication needs of Ugandans.

This partnership, initially established in 2018, has allowed K2 Telecom customers to seamlessly access Airtel Uganda’s comprehensive range of services while retaining the distinctive K2 prefixes of 708 and 709. From voice and data services to internet connectivity and mobile money solutions, the alliance has successfully integrated K2’s local presence with Airtel’s expansive network.

Speaking at the renewal ceremony, Soumendra Sahu, Managing Director of Airtel Uganda, emphasized the shared vision that underpins the partnership. “The renewal of this partnership is a testament to our mutual commitment to empowering communities with reliable and affordable telecommunications services,” he stated. “By leveraging Airtel’s robust infrastructure and K2 Telecom’s innovative platforms, we aim to bridge the digital divide and foster economic and social development across Uganda.”

The partnership has already delivered tangible benefits to millions of Ugandans. K2 Telecom users now enjoy access to Airtel Money’s secure and convenient financial services, high-speed internet, and a diverse portfolio of affordable voice and data packages. The collaboration has significantly enhanced digital access and financial inclusion, especially in rural and underserved areas of the country.

By renewing their agreement, Airtel Uganda and the Buganda Kingdom aim to build on these successes and introduce more customized services designed to meet the evolving needs of the Ugandan population. The integration of K2 Telecom’s local expertise with Airtel’s technological capabilities is expected to drive further innovation in the telecommunications sector.

Charles Peter Mayiga, the Katikkiro (Prime Minister) of the Buganda Kingdom, hailed the partnership as a powerful example of collaboration for community development. “The collaboration between Buganda Kingdom’s K2 Telecom and Airtel Uganda has been instrumental in connecting people and equipping them with tools to improve their lives. We deeply appreciate Airtel Uganda’s steadfast commitment to enhancing connectivity within our Kingdom and beyond,” he remarked.
