Aisha Bowe is a Bahamian-American aerospace engineer, entrepreneur, and STEM advocate, recognized for her pioneering contributions to technology, education, and space exploration. She is the founder and CEO of STEMBoard, a technology solutions company, and LINGO, an educational technology firm that provides hands-on STEM learning kits to empower young learners globally. Bowe’s remarkable career trajectory is a testament to her resilience and innovation. Growing up in a working-class family in the United States, Bowe defied expectations by transitioning from Washtenaw Community College to the University of Michigan, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering in 2008 and a Master’s degree in Space Systems Engineering in 2009. Her passion for science fiction and the mentorship of Thomas Zurbuchen, a renowned professor, inspired her to pursue a career at NASA.

At NASA’s Ames Research Center, Bowe served in the Flight Trajectory Dynamics and Controls Branch of the Aviation Systems Division, contributing to the development of algorithms that support Air Traffic Management. Her technical expertise earned her the National Society of Black Engineers’ Outstanding Technical Contribution Award for her influential paper, “Evaluation of a Fuel Efficient Aircraft Maneuver for Conflict Resolution.” Her leadership and advocacy in STEM education extend beyond her engineering accomplishments. As a liaison to the Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) Program, Bowe mentored students, conducted interview workshops, and facilitated NASA site tours, inspiring future generations of scientists and engineers. She is also a part of the U.S. State Department Speaker Program, delivering impactful lectures in South Africa, Israel, and Kuwait, and promoting STEM opportunities for underrepresented communities.

Bowe’s dedication to diversity and inclusion in STEM has garnered numerous accolades, including the NASA Equal Employment Opportunity Medal, the U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce Emerging Star Award, and the Virginia Business magazine’s Black Business Leaders Award. She is a member of the National Society of Black Engineers, a certified Program Management Professional (PMI), a certified SSI scuba diver, and an avid mountain climber. In 2025, Bowe will achieve another historic milestone by becoming the first Black woman to travel with Blue Origin on the New Shepard launch vehicle, the private spaceflight company founded by Jeff Bezos. This extraordinary journey underscores her role as a trailblazer in aerospace, inspiring a new era of inclusive space exploration and educational equity.

Bowe’s story is not just one of personal success but a powerful example of how vision, education, and determination can lead to limitless possibilities. Through her work at STEMBoard and LINGO, she continues to transform lives, open doors, and create pathways for marginalized voices in STEM fields.
