Debbie Larry-Izamoje, FNIMN, has carved a remarkable niche as a trailblazer in Africa’s sports media industry. As the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Brila Media Group Nigeria, she stands out as a visionary leader redefining the future of sports media across the continent. Debbie’s tenure as CEO follows her impactful four-year service as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and a cumulative nine years of dedication to Brila Media, demonstrating her deep understanding of the organization and its mission.

Under her leadership, Brila FM has evolved from a traditional radio station into a multifaceted conglomerate known as Brila Media. The company now spans broadcasting, digital services, printing, and consultancy, marking a transformative era for sports media in Africa. Debbie’s strategic innovations have elevated Brila Media’s digital presence, fostering an engaged sports-loving community and positioning the brand as a dominant player in “sportainment” on the continent.

Debbie’s academic achievements mirror her professional excellence. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Management from the University of Sheffield and a Master’s degree in Management from University College London (UCL). Her commitment to continuous learning is evident in her certifications from prestigious institutions, including Innovation and Strategy from Harvard University and User Innovation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Beyond her corporate role, Debbie Larry-Izamoje is a staunch advocate for women’s empowerment in sports. She is the founder of Football for Girls Africa (FGA), a social impact initiative designed to empower young girls through football. The program has been lauded by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) for promoting inclusivity and creating life-changing opportunities for girls in sports. Debbie’s dedication to fostering a culture of diversity and inclusivity is also evident within Brila Media, where she has championed increased female representation, blending youthful perspectives with the wisdom of seasoned staff to transform the organization’s culture and output.

Her contributions to women’s sports extend to her involvement with the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL). Debbie played a critical role in the league’s rebranding in 2020, a pivotal step toward enhancing the visibility and prestige of women’s football in Nigeria. She also contributed to the successful execution of the Aisha Buhari Invitational Tournament in 2021. Currently, she serves on the NWFL task force, driving nation-building and empowering women through football.

Debbie’s passion for sports media is deeply rooted in her upbringing, influenced by her parents’ careers in communications. These early experiences inspired her vision of transforming sports media in Africa.
